 Courses

In Spring of 2012 I went to Italy for a study abroad trip. This trip included classes from English, History, Classics and Communications departments. The Communications class was taught by a professor I got to know very well along the way, Dr. Richard Letteri, who led the trip. The class discussed the rhetoric of ancient Roman and Renaissance communities. We spent two months travelling from Sicily to Milan, stopping in over a dozen Italian towns along the way. It was this trip that inspired my minor in Ancient Greek and Roman Studies.

It was truly the trip of a lifetime; I learned things in a way I never would have experienced inside of a classroom. The trip taught me to think from all perspectives, to communicate with people in ways beyond language, and to adapt to situations quickly.

Communication Studies has taught me to effectively communicate through oratory, traditional writing, and digital sources. This major has enabled me to become an effective speaker with a meaningful rhetoric to my words.
